Sarah Wiseman Gallery is pleased to advertise ‘The Dog Show’, a single exhibition by the cherished, award- winning children’s author and illustrator Catherine Rayner.

‘We ’re so delighted to show these new works in May of 2022, which will be revealed for the first time now at the gallery’, says Sarah Wiseman, gallery director.

Catherine has chosen the dog theme, basically since becoming a dog owner herself, to Otto the little dachshund.

‘I ’ve always loved dogs’, she says. ‘As content for art or illustrations, I love the diverseness of breeds, the varying sizes, their looks, textures of their fur … and the relationships they’ve with their possessors – all of it. I ’m so happy to be working on this exhibition!’

Catherine’s affection of dogs inspired her picture book‘ Smelly Louie’ ( published in 2014) about a adorable dog who has his very own, rather un-loveable Special Smell! ‘Smelly Louie’ went on to win The Peter’s Book of the Year, 2015, was shortlisted for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal, 2015 and shortlisted for the 2015 English 4-11 Picture Book Awards.

Sarah Wiseman Gallery has worked with Catherine Rayner since 2006, when Sarah caught a glimpse of her work at an art show in Edinburgh.

‘Catherine’s new set will bring around all the nice people have for their dogs into the gallery. The works will reflect on and have the immense joy and companionship dogs bring to their families with their individual characters. The gallery has invariably been dog friendly and we love meeting clients’ furry family members. I suppose this show will be enormous fun!’

Catherine Rayner’s other solo shows at Sarah Wiseman Gallery include‘ Prickles, Fur and Feathers 2015, and ‘Rustlings’ in 2019, as well as innumerous group shows.

Sarah Wiseman Gallery will prepare a completely illustrated-catalogue featuring all available works and words about the artist. However, mail the gallery atinfo@wisegal, If you ’d like to receiveone.com to request a link.
